During our end of the year Employee Appreciation Holiday Party we awarded our 2022 Employee Awards for their hard work completed throughout the year. This year we had 4 different awards that various teams were asked to cast their vote on. The awards included the Career Services Award of 2022, Business Services Award of 2022, JAG Specialist of the Year Award, and the Customer Centric Award of 2022.

Career Services Award of 2022

The Customer Services Award of 2022 was voted on by those on the Career Services Team. This award represents someone from the Career Services Team that has built relationships with their clients. This person constantly goes above and beyond their job description to make sure the needs of their clients are met. This award was actually a tie and awarded to both Dawn Pettys, Lead Career Coach (seen to the far left below) and Bill Townsend, Disabled Veteran Outreach Program Specialist (seen to the far right below).

Those who voted for Dawn stated that she “is dedicated to her youth customers and knows each of their stories as well as their potential. She is truly a champion for a diverse group of youth, and she impacts their lives through the unwavering support she provides.” Congratulations, Dawn!

Those who voted for Bill stated that he “always goes above and beyond and that he is always willing to help any and every client, coach, and even clients that are not his own.” Congratulations, Bill!

Business Services Award of 2022

The Business Services Award of 2022 was voted on by those on the Business Services Team. This award represents an individual from the Business Services Team that continuously builds local connections with businesses across our region, using their skills and knowledge for the good of the community and company. The recipient of this award is Kathy Erdman, Business Consultant (seen below in the middle).

Those who voted for Kathy stated that she has “developed long term relationships with our business leaders and all her coworkers. She provides stability, fairness, and a healthy work atmosphere. She consistently helps others to learn and is always willing to help employers out when called upon.” Congratulations, Kathy!

JAG Specialist of the Year

The JAG Specialist of the Year Award was appointed by those on the Job’s for America’s Graduates team in Region 10. This award represents an individual from the Region 10 JAG Team that works to connect and build up the youth to assist them in building character, develop personal goals and refine employability skills to prepare them for the future. This person continues to make a lasting impact and often goes above and beyond for those around them. This year the award went to Bobby Ashley, JAG Specialist at Scottsburg County High school.

Unfortunately, he could not attend our Holiday Party so we do not have a photo of him with his award yet! But, we do have a photo featured below with some students from his classroom at their Halloween 5k event (red arrow pointing to Bobby in the back).

Those that know Bobby know that he is dedicated  and passionate about making a difference if the lives of those he teaches. He sees his position as more that just a job and really takes the time to get to know the youth he serves and caters his approach to their interests. This year his classroom hosted their first ever Halloween 5k with all proceeds benefiting Norton Children’s Hospital! All students were involved from start to finish planning and executing the exciting day and learned a lot from the experience.” Congratulations, Bobby!

Customer Centric Award of 2022

The Customer Centric Award of 2022 was voted on by everyone at SIW, WorkOne Career Center. This award represents an employee who works our mission everyday which is “to lead a robust talent development system and cultivate a skilled workforce that advances our community, economy, and quality of life.” This person is one who support customers, drives satisfaction, and maintains great business. This individual inspires to achieve excellence in helping others everyday. The recipient of this award, drum roll please, went to Gina Carter, Customer Service Representative.

Unfortunately, Gina could also not make our Holiday Party so a photo with her award is not available just yet. But, we do have one from early in the year during our Quarterly Outreach project with WaterStep. (Gina can be seen far right, seen below).

Those that elected Gina stated that she “serves everyone who walks through the door competently and compassionately. Customers have gone out of their way to comment on the service Gina provides and they express extreme gratitude. Gina also understands the benefits of working with the WorkOne Career Center and works hard to connect customers with the right services.” Congratulations, Gina!
